The Economy Ministry of Georgia is working on a project of introducing paid motorways.

Deputy Minister of Economy, David Khutsishvili, stated the aforementioned Thursday, Georgia Online reports.

In his words, unfortunately Georgia currently lacks such infrastructures, but the work on this issue is already underway. The Ministry of Regional Development along with international experts is working on developing a relevant approach.

Khutsishvili also noted that the principle of paid roads per se suggests the existence of alternative free roads.

“The driver must have a chance to use an alternative free road, and if he wishes he can also use the paid one,” the Deputy Minister said.
