Minister Vahan Martirosyan underscored the signing of this agreement which, in his words, will permit a bilateral right to open and unrestricted access to the aviation market of 36 member countries.

The launch of talks will be followed by several relevant legislative reforms.

This agreement also aims to promote tourism, expand trade and business ties, draw foreign investment, and strengthen economic relations between the parties.

The EU-Armenia aviation agreement will come to replace the separate agreements that were signed with each EU country. As a result, airlines that are registered in any EU member country will be able to conduct flights to Armenia from the territory of another EU country, without additional authorization from the aviation authorities of these countries.

In addition, signing of the ECAA Agreement will enable budget airlines operating in the EU to carry out unrestricted flights to Armenia.
