Gambia’s autocratic president, Yahya Jammeh, ruling the country for 22 years conceded defeat in presidential election, The Guardian reported.
It was “very unique” that Jammeh would accept defeat after controlling the Gambia for so long, the head of the Gambia’s electoral commission, Alieu Momarr Njai said.
As it was reported, the 51-year-old president ruling the country since 1994 intends to congratulate officially the opposition candidate Adama Barrow on his victory.
Gambia’s presidential elections took place on December 1.
