In the framework of expanding the geography ofthe Hour of Code IT event, the Microsoft Innovation Center of Armenia, in cooperation with the Enterprise Incubator Foundation (EIF), Gyumri Technology Center and SoloLearn RA company will hold the aforementioned event also in Gyumri, the second largest city of Armenia.

This event, which is to be held in Armenia for already the third time, aims to teach various programming languages, as well as develop logic and problem-solving skills.

''The technology sphere is prospering in Gyumri. More and more young men come to connect their lives with the IT sphere every day. Such development in our city has mainly to do with the activity of Gyumri Technology Center. We are happy that this year the center is among the organizers of such technological events,'' noted Amalya Yeghoyan, who is in charge of capacity building at Gyumri Technology Center.

Hour of Code will take place on December 7. All those, who are interested in new technologies and wish to acquire programming skills and study programming, can take part in the event. Although knowledge of programming is not required, the participants must have an elementary knowledge of English. ''It is already 14 years EIF has been implementing programs and events contributing to the development of the area. This time we will hold the Hour of Code event in Gyumri in cooperation with the technology and innovation centers opened by our strategic partners.

This will give young people an opportunity to get familiarized with the technological area and acquire new knowledge. We also hope that after this event they will see their future in the area of technology,'' noted Founding Director of EIF, Bagrat Yengibaryan.

''In this technology abundant millennium, it is very important to turn children from technology consumers into technology creators. We can also create what we consume in the online domain. Such events give pupils an incentive to take interest in programming and come up with new ideas and innovative solutions in the future,'' said Director of Microsoft Innovation Center, Artashes Vardanyan,  

The official hashtag of the event is #hourofcodegyumri.

In 2015, over 250 participants—aged 5-18—from the schools of Armenia' s different provinces took part in the event. Many of the participants continued learning programming, already making their first steps as junior programmers.

This year Hour of Code will be held in Yerevan, Gyumri and Vanadzor.
