YEREVAN. – Solely 4,400 people have joined the “Justice Within Armenia” signature campaign, since diaspora Armenians are detached from the events unrolling in Armenia.

Famous musician Serj Tankian, who is founder and lead singer of the world-renowned American-Armenian rock band System of a Down (SOAD), stated about the abovementioned at a press conference on Monday.

“It’s very important to us that the signatories be Armenian; [but] this factor reduces the number of signatories,” said Tankian. “Besides that, diaspora Armenians are quite detached from the societal, economic, [and] political events of Armenia. This is very important to us to realize that Armenia and the [Armenian] Diaspora are more detached [from one another] than we imagined.

“Diaspora Armenians understand very little about the events in Armenia.”

The said signature campaign was launched on September 21, the Independence Day anniversary of Armenia.
