YEREVAN. – Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev’s statements cannot be taken seriously, and they have no impact on real actions, Caucasus Institute Director, political scientist Alexander Iskandaryan, said at a press conference on Monday.
Reflecting on Aliyev’s territorial claims toward Armenia, the analyst added: “The Azerbaijani elite believe that they should always say some harsh words to maintain a certain confidence among the Azerbaijani society.
“They say something like this from time to time. [But] it’s clear that such statements are aimed at the [Azerbaijani] domestic audience.”
