Albania will hold parliamentary elections on June 18 of 2018. The relevant decision is made by the President of Albania Bujar Nishani, reports AP. 

The latest parliamentary elections in Albania were held in June, 2013. At that time, the Socialist Party headed by the former mayor of Tirana Edi Rama, won the election. Socialists and their allies won 84 seats out of 140 in the parliament, whereas the Democratic Party headed by Sali Berisha took 56 seats. The parliament later confirmed Rama as a prime minister.

The unicameral parliament in Albania, that holds 140 parliamentary seats, is elected once in four years by proportional electoral system. The government is formed by the parliamentary majority.
