YEREVAN. - Prime Minister of Armenia has elaborated on why the gas tariffs in the republic cannot undergo significant changes.

At the meeting with media representatives, the PM was asked why Russia sells gas to EAEU countries at a higher price than to Poland, something which public commentator Vladimir Solovyov mentioned a day before.

"Solovyov is a good friend of mine but I am not confident in his competencе in issues related to gas. The gas price is determined by very simple mechanisms—price on border and constant expenses are divided by the amount of the used gas.

The Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) regularly studies the expenses. [But] The gas price is influenced by still a few factors: whether the country has its own sources of gas and possibilities for transit. Consequently, it is wrong to compare oneself with others, since we are not the only county which hasn't got its own gas and lacks transit possibilities," the PM noted.
