YEREVAN. - A New Year charity fair held by diplomats accredited in Armenia took place in Yerevan Saturday (photos)

Presenting the festive pavilion, Spokesman for the Chinese Embassy in Armenia, Zou  Xia, told Armenian News – NEWS.am: ''We organized a charity fair at the invitation of the Armenian Young Women's Association (AYWA). We will donate the entire profit to our Armenian friends, who are in need.'' In fact, the Chinese Embassy has been taking part in this event for already the 4th time.

''And I think we will be able to make our contribution to the social and economic development of Armenia.  New Year is coming soon, and our pavilion presents symbols of Chinese culture—magnets, vases and beautiful toys in the form of a rooster. According to the Chinese calendar, next year is the Year of the Rooster. Rooster is the symbol of strenuous work and life. We wish success, health and family happiness to all our Armenian friends. Happy New Year!'' Zou Xia said, congratulating Armenia also in Armenian.

Worker of the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Armenia, Hasmik Yeritsyan, for her part, noted that the aim of the embassy is to take part in such public events. ''Especially when we found out that the entire amount collected will be allocated for charity purposes. Thus, the Ambassador took interest in this event so that as much means as possible are allocated for children in need,'' she noted, adding that the UAE Embassy has been taking part in the event for already the second year.

The embassies of Lithuania and Switzerland also took part in the fair.
