YEREVAN. – The Iran-Armenia railway construction project continues to remain a government priority.

Minister of Transport, Communication and Information Technology of Armenia, Vahan Martirosyan, noted the abovementioned at a year-end press conference on Monday.

He added that there is a business plan for the cost coverage deadlines of this project, and work is underway with investors.

“This matter has been and remains one of the most important ones for us,” said the minister.

The project was assessed three years ago. The railway is planned to be completed within six years, its cost coverage term is 28 years, and operation period is 50 years.

Construction could cost about US$3.5 billion.

The investors, however, still are not fully clear.
