YEREVAN. – The murder of the Russian ambassador to Turkey was terrorism.

Chair of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the National Assembly of Armenia, Artak Zakaryan, stated the abovementioned at a press conference on Tuesday.

In his words, what occurred is a sad reality.

“Turkey needs to be able to keep the agenda of Russian-Turkish relations as much away as possible from various obstacles,” added Zakaryan. “Turkey still needs to substantiate the absence of [Turkish] state involvement in the ambassador’s murder.”

On Monday evening, a gunman attacked Russian envoy to Turkey, Andrey Karlov, while the latter was giving a speech at a photo exhibition dedicated to Kamchatka at Çağdaş Sanat Merkezi Contemporary Arts Center of Ankara.

Karlov was rushed to hospital in critical condition, but he could not be saved.

The assailant, who was shot dead by police, was later identified as Ankara police officer Mevlüt Mert Altıntaş.
