Restoration works of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem continue.

According to the latest report of the Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem and the Armenian architect Irina Badalyan, works on strengthening of the construction by titanium pillars are currently carried and the restoration process is to be completed by the end of spring, 2017.

“All the pillars are established in the northern part. They are of different types– titanium rods of different thicknesses are used for strengthening of masonry columns. Works on installation of titanium net on the inner laying by means of special a solute, are completed.

These nets will be attached to panels under the arch. Earlier metal fastenings were used, they are completely covered with rust and are out of order. Lead pillars were also in bad condition,” the Patriarchate reported.

The restoration involved both representatives of the Armenian Patriarchate, Greek and Catholic churches. The results of work are summed up in weekly reports.

Restoration works began in May, 2016. According to preliminary estimates, 3 million euros will be spent for restoration works.
