Pursuant to an agreement reached with Gazprom Export LLC, if needed, Georgia will receive natural gas from Russia for $185, instead of $215, per 1,000 cubic meters.

Minister of Energy of Georgia, Kakha Kaladze, stated the aforementioned, according to Sputnik Georgia.

Until now, Georgia was receiving 10 percent of the Russian gas being supplied to Armenia, and as a transfer fee.

The respective contract between Georgia and Gazprom Export had expired on January 1.

The contract renewal negotiations were being prolonged because Gazprom Export was asking to pay for the gas transfer with money, instead of natural gas.

“As for the transfer fee that has to be paid to Georgia, it will be the highest in the European countries,” the Georgian minister stressed, in particular.

Kaladze also noted that a two-year respective contract will be signed with Gazprom Export.
