YEREVAN. – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Armenia so far refrains from commenting on the situation regarding the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Office in Yerevan, the capital city.

According to media reports, considering the absence of consensus with respect to extension of the mandate of the Office, its activities are temporarily “hanging in the air.”

There is a similar situation also as regards to the OSCE offices in Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.

According to the current practice, the mandate of the national offices of this organization is extended every year, and on the basis of consensus among the OSCE member countries.

Until recently, the OSCE Office in Yerevan was this organization’s sole full-fledged office in the region.
