YEREVAN. - Armenia will open a consulate general in Dubai. The project of the relevant decree of the Armenian President was approved at the Cabinet session on Thursday.

Currently, 2,5-3,000 Armenian citizens live in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Dubai is an important trade and passenger terminal between Armenia and Eastern Asia. 4-5 flights are conducted from Yerevan to Dubai per week.

According to the written substantiation of the Government, the opening of the consulate general won’t give rise to extra costs. The Armenian Embassy in UAE already operates, thus the consular department will merely changed its status.
