The police of Amet, India, found six thousand rare turtles in a smuggler’s house, reports UPI. The huge trionics, found during the investigation, are considered as rare species. Some animals were packed into sacks, whereas others were lying on the ground.

The landlord was involved in smuggling with two accomplices, but police managed to arrest one of the suspects. The other two are hiding. Smugglers usually send turtles to Kolkata and then to Southeast Asia, where they are used in food and pharmaceutical production. The seized turtles will be released.
