The Australian Perth Zoo staff taught the elephant called Putra-Mas to distinguish different scents to improve his mood. According to Rosbalt, that idea occurred, when the staff saw the elephants getting bored.

They decided to amuse the elephant with the help of games, using his acute sense of smell. Putra-Mas learned to distinguish the smell of lemon, coffee, fur, and feathers. As ABC reports, the park staff hide these items around his enclosure, while the animal squeaks with each discovery.

Currently, the staff think about arranging such games for other two elephants in the park, as well as for other animals.
