The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is pleased with the project of creating a free economic zone at Armenia’s border with Iran.

Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC)—which is the executive body of the  EAEU—Board member and Minister in charge of the Development of Integration and Macroeconomics of the EEC, Tatiana Valovaya, stated the aforementioned at a press conference on Monday.

She noted that the draft Eurasian Customs Code is at the final phase of coordination,  and it factors in the special tax and customs procedures.

“We support the joint work that was conducted at the level of the prime ministers of our countries,” added Valovaya.

On December 22, 2016, the Government of Armenia approved the EAEU Customs Code.

In addition, Yerevan has asked for the right of a free economic zone at its border with Iran.
