YEREVAN. - Prime Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan on Monday chaired the subsequent discussion on the development of the information and communication technologies (ICT). 

The package of substantive projects on the preparation of high-level specialists satisfying the demands of the ICT sector, capacity development of higher education institutions, including ensurance with technological equipment and promotion of ICT sector companies were presented to the Prime Minister.

It was developed as a result of the joint working group of the agencies and sphere representetatives concerned. The package includes reforms in the system of vocational education and specific projects related to the development of the labor force of the ICT sector, which are to be carried out in cooperation with the public and private sector. As a result of the actions stipulated by the package, it is expected to open 40,000 engineerig jobs in Armenia by 2025, involving not only Diaspora Armenians, but also foreign high-level specialists in the ICT sector.

PM Karapetyan welcomed the presented program package, underscoring the importance of active and continuous cooperation between state agencies, ICT sector companies and educational centers.  

Karapetyan stressed that the Government is ready to take necessary steps to prepare high-level specialists and promote the sphere. Apart from this, he urged the representatives of the ICT sector to also submit prposals aimed at the improvement of the business environment. The Prime Minister expressed readiness to discuss all the issues related to the business development and proposed to formulate the amendments to laws and Government decisions, which can contribute to the implementation of the ICT programs.
