U.S. President Barack Obama will leave the White House with a 58% favorability rating, according to a new Gallup poll.
The poll conducted two weeks before Obama leaves office found that he reached his peak favorability rating of 78% before his own inauguration in January 2009, according to Gallup. Obama averaged 53% favorability over his two terms in the White House.
Gallup noted that Obama will leave the White House with a much higher favorable rating than did his immediate predecessor, George W. Bush (40%). Bill Clinton had a 57% rating before he left office. George H.W. Bush left the White House with a 62 % rating.
As it was reported, First lady Michelle Obama will leave the White House with the same 68% favorable rating she had when she first moved in. About six in ten Americans (61%) have a positive view of outgoing Vice President Joe Biden.
Results for the poll are based on telephone interviews conducted January 4-8, 2017, with a random sample of 1,032 adults, aged 18 and older.
