The Daily Star (UK) newspaper analyst Peter Truman informed that the Azerbaijani army possesses the Tor short-range surface-to-air missile system.
“Azerbaijan does have such a weapon,” Armenian military analyst Arkadi Grigoryan told Armenian News-NEWS.am. “It was even featured during military exercises.”
As per Grigoryan, however, when in automatic mode, this quite modern missile system automatically monitors a predetermined airspace and automatically selects the aerial targets that have not been identified by the “insider-outsider” system.
“And this poses a maximum risk to the Azerbaijani side,” added the military analyst. “Knowing some features of the actions by the armed force of the neighboring side, it can be assumed [that] the first target [of this missile system] will be from its own army.”
At the same time, Arkadi Grigoryan expressed a view that the uproar in Azerbaijan regarding the Tor missile system is linked to the attempts to “extract” additional funds from the country’s state budget.
