A poetry evening of Armenian writer Daniel Varoujan took place in the Italian town of Arco on January 15, La Voce del Trentino reports.

Varoujan’s poetry has turned into a memory and symbol for Armenians spread worldwide. “An attempt can be made to exterminate an entire nation, but one man, only one word is enough for everything to revive,” the hosts noted.

Along with Varoujan’s poems, folk storied and jokes were told—Armenian folklore, which he wanted to collect but never managed.

The music of Armenian composers—Krunk and other works of Komitas, Sabre dance of Aram Khachaturian, as well as the works of modern performers, specifically those of Italian guitarist Pino Daniele and Armenian musician Arto Tunçboyacıyan, was performed.

The staging was organized by "F.A. Bonporti" Conservatory of Trento, volunteer organization Sezione di Riva del Garda and Trentino Forum for Peace and Human Rights.
