STEPANAKERT. - Deputies of ARF Dashnkatsutyun faction and Chairman of National Revival Party Hayk Khanumyan voted against the draft constitutional amendments in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR/Karabakh), the latter told Armenian News – NEWS.am.

The NKR National Assembly on Tuesday adopted the package of draft constitutional amendments with 20 votes in favor, 7 against and 1 abstaining.

Dashnaktsutyun faction stood against the concentration of presidential power in Armenia as well, thus turning into one of the initiators of constitutional amendments in the country. Here the reforms were made in the direction of the parliamentary republic.

On January 19, Karabakh President Bako Sahakyan will sign a decree on the constitutional referendum, which is slated for February 20.

“Over this time we are planning to hold a counter-campaign along with the official campaign in favor of reforms,” Khanumyan stated.

He earlier noted that the strengthening of presidential power in Karabakh is dangerous in terms of permanent regeneration.
