YEREVAN. – Opposition Prosperous Armenia Party former leader—and businessman MP—Gagik Tsarukyan on Tuesday announced about opening the political chapter he had closed, and running—with a broad alliance—in the parliamentary election to be held on April 2, reported Zhoghovurd (People) newspaper.

“[But] the [ruling] Republican Party [of Armenia (RPA)], which had ‘forcibly’ invited him out of politics, was underground, all day yesterday.

“And, in this situation, Tsarukyan’s return [to active politics in Armenia] is a crying shame for the RPA itself, since it was the leader of this ruling party [i.e. President Serzh Sargsyan] who was making pompous statements that we have no homeland to turn into a circus.

“[But,] now, it turns out that we live in a homeland that has been turned into a circus.

“Tsarukyan’s return was a blow for the RPA itself. Tsarukyan will take both votes and human resource—that had become resentful from the RPA over the course of years—[away] from them,” wrote Zhoghovurd.
