YEREVAN. – In fact, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has put the Azerbaijani side in its place.
Political scientist and former deputy foreign minister of Armenia, Ambassador Arman Navasardyan, stated the abovementioned at a press conference on Friday.
Reflecting on Lavrov’s most recent statement with respect to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Navasardyan noted that Moscow diplomacy always uses the trick of a powerful riposte.
“I assess this [statement] positively, since a serious diplomatic démarche is concealed under such, one could say, emotional statement,” stressed the Armenian diplomat. “[And] with the objective of showing that the Karabakh conflict is an international matter, which the relevant organizations are dealing with.”
As per Arman Navasardyan, it seems an attempt is being made to bring Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev to his senses, since he is crossing the “red line” and he does not want to play by the rules that are laid at the foundation of settling this conflict.
At his 2016 year-end press conference on Tuesday, and responding to a provocative question posed by an Azerbaijani reporter, Russian FM Sergei Lavrov had stated that the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is not an internal matter of Azerbaijan.
