YEREVAN. – Armenian parliamentary elections have already been set for April 2.

The Central Electoral Commission, taking into account the requirements of the Electoral Code, has to organize electoral processes, other functions are not included in the scope of the power, head of the commission Tigran Mukuchyan told reporters on Friday.

Therefore, continued Mukuchyan, any other reasoning in connection with the day of the elections, especially in the moral plane, in fact, is not the subject of the powers of the Central Electoral Commission. His response came to the remark of reporters about the moral side of setting elections on the day of April escalation in Karabakh in 2016.

Asked by Armenian News - NEWS.am that the Electoral Code provides for the appointment of election day in the period from 1 to 10 April 2017, and whether there was a possibility of appointing the elections on April 9, CEC head said: “The day has been set. It is a starting point for the Commission. Other functions are beyond the power of the Central Electoral Commission.”
