YEREVAN. - By joining the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Armenia became the member of a club, which has a 180 million market.

Armenian Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan said the aforementioned at the meeting with students at the American University of Armenia (AUA) on Friday

According to him, the manufacturing, industrial and agricultural potential in Armenia is so that the main market consumers are the former USSR republics.

“Even if the economic indexes dropped in 2016—although they haven’t—let’s imitate, or, as you say, simulate over what would have happened had we not joined the EAEU. Maybe there would be a fall then? Besides, does anyone hinder our cooperation with other countries by virtue of our being an EAEU club member? Do we lack economic potential for working with Europe or any other country due to our being an EAEU member? You are modern people. Be independent, judge pragmatically— do we need that or not? We are becoming a member of a big club, where we can work and score a goal if we have brains.  If we don’t score a goal, we don’t accuse ourselves but the club. We have a chance to score a goal in another place and we don’t do that?” he said.
