Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev made a prominent statement on Monday. He turned out to learn about the life of his own army from photos.

At the opening of a new military camp not far from Baku, Aliyev told about the situation in the Azerbaijani army before the appointment of Zakir Hasanov to the post of a defense minister, haqqin.az reports. The President described the situation then as “extremely deplorable.”

“The situation in our military units was quite different several years ago. I instructed to study the situation, report it to me and take necessary measures.

When the photos of military units located in our country’s region were presented to me several years ago, I saw that the situation was rather deplorable: semi-destroyed premises and unfit barracks. The food supply of the army was at a very low level.

Thus, I immediately ordered to make radical changes in that area. Currently, the Defense Ministry leadership carries out work at proper level. The Azerbaijani army is among those exemplary ones both in terms of supply and service,” Aliyev said, referring to the situations in the army during former Defense Minister Safar Abiyev’s office.

In fact, the army mottos have not changed since Abiyev’s times.
