YEREVAN. - We already expect $500 million investments to be made in the economy of Armenia both from local and foreign companies.

Minister of Economic Development and Investments of Armenia, Suren Karayan, told the aforementioned to journalists after the Government session on Thursday.

To the question as to whether the assertions on attracting $300 million Russian investments are realistic, the Minister noted: “Yes, at least that much. I think there will be much more of them.”

According to Karayan, the Russian side is mainly interested in investments in the sphere of renewable energy, agricultural production and mining industry.

Asked whether the parliamentary elections of April 2 may hinder the investments, the Minister said: “To some extent yes. Any such processes play a certain restraining role. But I can say that the Armenia-based organizations, with which we have been recently working jointly, are also interested in investments and have already started making them.”
