YEREVAN. - A festive concert dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Armenian Army took place in A. Spendiaryan Opera and Ballet National Academic Theatre on Saturday.
The event was attended by the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, First Lady Rita Sargsyan, Karabakh President Bako Sahakyan and Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II.
Upon the call of Defense Minister of Armenia Vigen Sargsyan, the national flag of Armenia and Armenian Armed Forces were brought in.
In his speech, Minister Sargsyan noted that the Armenian Army covered an enormous path during a quarter of century.“During the April war, the boys fulfilled their task professionally and with dignity, forcing the adversary to return to the ceasefire conditions. For us the key discovery of April is the soldier and the commander. We are a wonderful nation-army, this being our force. This generation—the generation of independence—will be the master of its fate,” the Minister stressed, adding that the army contrasted quantity to quality and won.
“Quality should be the basis of the nation-army. And we must first of all turn the army from being the mirror of the society into its forging shop,” he noted.
