Lavrov: Iran never had any ties to Islamic State

Iran is contributing to the fight against Islamic State terrorists, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.

“Iran has never turned out to have any connections with the Islamic State or Jabhat al-Nusra,” TASS quotes Lavrov. “Moreover, Iran makes its own contribution to the struggle against the Islamic State.”

Russia has been pushing for “universal front of struggle against terrorism”, Lavrov said, adding that if there is an unbiased approach towards the potential members, “Iran must be part of our common efforts”.
