YEREVAN. - France will provide six new seismographs to Armenia.

Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations, Haykaram Mkhitaryan, stated the aforementioned in the Armenian parliament on Thursday, introducing the bill on the amendments to the Law “On seismic protection,” which supposes modernization of approaches to seismic protection of the population and buildings.

Responding to the questions of the deputies, he noted that during the recent ten years, the equipment of the seismic service has significantly improved. Thus, the Garni Geophysical Observatory is equipped with devices from U.S., France and a number of other countries. It is also expected to soon receive six seismographs from France for the town of Vayk in the country’s south.
