Moscow sees no compelling reason for a radical change of foreign policy towards Yerevan in connection with the transition to a parliamentary form of government, Russian Ambassador to Armenia Ivan Volynki said in an interview with TASS.

He emphasized that the elections scheduled for April 2, 2017, are “interesting for us, as Armenia goes to a parliamentary model of government.”

“According to the new Electoral Code of the country, the opposition should occupy not less than 1/3 of the seats in the National Assembly. An important aspect is to ensure stable majority in parliament, which should ensure the continuity of the political process in Armenia. Given this, we see no compelling reason to Yerevan radically changed its foreign policy,” the diplomat said.
