YEREVAN. – As of Monday 2։30pm, about 40 percent of the voters have cast their ballots, in the polling station located in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR/Artsakh) representation in Armenia, in the referendum on constitutional amendments in Artsakh.

Chairman of the respective referendum precinct commission, Armen Petrosyan, told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“With the main list, 565 people are registered in the precinct,” he said. “And, at this time, about 200 people have participated in the referendum.”

Petrosyan added, however, that this voter turnout is normal.

“Since it’s a work day today in Armenia, and as we know, the NKR citizens who are on a business trip in Armenia, they are students, they are here due to work, [and] they vote in this constituency; for that reason, they will come later [in the day],” he said.

The NKR on Monday is conducting a constitutional referendum.

The respective constitutional amendments envision a transition from a semi-presidential to a presidential system of government in Artsakh.
