YEREVAN. - Russian-Georgian preliminary agreement on the need of unlocking the Trans-Caucasus transportation communications may become a good example for the Karabakh conflict.

Head of the Center on Globalization and Regional Cooperation, Stepan Grigoryan, said the aforementioned on Monday, speaking at the discussion on the topic “New Russian-Georgian agreements: Will Armenia have an alternative route to Russia?”

In his words, the Georgian and Russian sides have agreed to separate the political issues from economic ones. “If, for instance, in the same Karabakh conflict parties agree to develop economic cooperation, certain confidence will be built, and then it will be possible to decide political issues. The example of the Russian-Georgian agreements contain these positive elements,” Grigoryan noted,

Georgia and Russia have recently agreed on the need to unlock the Trans-Caucasus transportation communications. The preliminary agreement was reached on the basis of the recent meeting between the Russian Deputy FM Grigory Karasin and Georgian Prime Minister's Special Envoy for Russia Zurab Abashidze in Prague.
