YEREVAN. – Vice President of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, Eduard Sharmazanov, on Wednesday received a group of members of the Chamber of Deputies of Bolivia.

These MPs have arrived in Armenia after conducting an observation mission during Monday’s constitutional referendum in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR/Artsakh), the NA informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

First, deputy speaker of the Armenian parliament lauded the development of relations between Armenia and Bolivia, and the respective role by parliamentarians.

Also, Sharmazanov underscored the Bolivian deputies’ visit to Artsakh, and their observation mission during the constitutional referendum. He noted that this once again proves that Bolivia is an advocate of freedom, democracy, and human rights. In addition, he thanked the Bolivian legislature for recognizing Armenian Genocide.

The Bolivian MPs, for their part, stressed that their country has passed through the road of struggle for self-determination and freedom, and therefore they understand the just struggle of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh.

“Our hearts are with Artsakh and the Armenian people,” noted Bolivian MP Nelly Lens Rosso. “It was an honor for us to participate in the constitutional referendum of Artsakh, [and] which was a celebration for the people of Artsakh. The people should determine their destiny, [and] which is commendable for the country’s development.”

The NKR on Monday conducted a constitutional referendum.

The respective constitutional amendments envision a transition from a semi-presidential to a presidential system of government in Artsakh.
