There is no alternative to the current work format of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs.

Russian FM Sergey Lavrov said the aforementioned at a joint press-conference with his Armenian counterpart Edward Nalbandian on Wednesday.

“If we are indeed committed to the principled agreement on the need to look for generally acceptable decision, I strongly believe that there is no alternative to the current work format of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs. The Azerbaijani and Armenian leadership have repeatedly mentioned this in the documents which bear their signatures or those which they have jointly signed,” Lavrov noted.

According to him, the Co-Chairs are not inactive and periodically make statements. The Russian FM also recalled that on the sidelines of the conference held in Munich a document was adopted, which precisely highlighted the unacceptability of the use of force for the normalization of certain situations, including the Karabakh conflict, unacceptability of military rhetoric and need for the full implementation of the agreements reached in Vienna and Saint Petersburg. “They explicitly talk about the need to work in this format and within the framework of principles, which the sides agreed on with the support of the Co-Chairs,” Lavrov added.
