Beirut Armenian mountaineer Avedis Kalpakian has climbed to the highest mountain peak in the Western Hemisphere, Argentina’s Aconcagua, whose summit is 6,962 meters above sea level.

In addition, Avedis Kalpakian was photographed at the mountain top holding the national flag of Armenia.

Kalpakian, 48, is a mountain guide, and he already has climbed to 35 mountaintops.

“Like all mountaineers, one of the challenges for me is to climb to the highest mountain peak on each continent,” he noted.

He already has climbed to the highest summits on the Americas, Europe, Africa, and Australia. And solely Asia’s—and the world’s—highest peak, Mount Everest (8,848 meters), remains his respective mountaineering challenge.
