Thanks to the formed relations, we will be able to significantly contribute to the development of good-neighborly relations between Armenia and Georgia.

Prime Minister of Georgia, Giorgi Kvirikashvili told the aforementioned to journalists after the meeting with his Armenian counterpart Karen Karapetyan in Tbilisi on Thursday.

“We expressed readiness to continue the regular high-level meetings and contribute to the close cooperation between the agencies of our states representing different sectors. For Georgia, Armenia is a state, which we are linked with by centuries-old good-neighborly traditions, while the year 2017 is important in that it marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our states. During this period we have managed to strengthen the friendly relations between our peoples and build a mutually beneficial cooperation. This April Armenia will hold parliamentary elections; we are confident that they will be held at high level and in line with international standards and democratic values,” Kvirikashvili noted.

He also added that the key directions of cooperation between the two states—both the existing situation in the trade and economic sphere and the prospects for the further development of cooperation—were discussed at the meeting. “We discussed important issues related to the sphere of transportation, energy, tourism, culture, etc. At the meeting we particularly referred to the challenges existing in the region and stressed that the maintaining of peace and stability has a special significance in terms of the development of our countries.

The Armenian PM had very interesting proposals on the realization of the potential of the joint market in different spheres of our countries. We expressed readiness to work actively in that direction and encourage the private sector to make full use of the regional cooperation potential.

I would like to once again thank my counterpart for visiting Georgia. I think this official visit will give a new impetus to the deepening of bilateral relations,”Kvirikashvili noted.
