French police detained 26 participants during an eruption of violence against security forces in a Paris suburb, reports Reuters. The police used tear gas against the protesters, after they had begun throwing stones at the police.

Dozens of schools in Paris are blocked because of the protest of seniors over the police brutality.  Instead of attending the school, the students marched on the Place de la Nation, carrying a banner reading "Vengeance for Theo."

Paris authorities warned the students, that the protest on the Place de la Nation was not allowed and it could have legal consequences.

The riot was triggered by an incident that had taken place in France early in February.  The police stopped 22-year-old Theo under the pretext to check his documents and harassed the black man with a truncheon. When the man was brought to the police station, his health deteriorated, and the doctors had to operate on him.

One of the policemen involved in the incident is convicted with charges of aggravated rape and three others with assault. Theo had to stayed in the hospital for two weeks.
