YEREVAN. – The National Security Service, together with sociologists of the presidential palace, conducted a survey for domestic use, which revealed that the standing of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) is very low—ahead of the forthcoming parliamentary election, reported Zhamanak (Time) newspaper.

“According to these surveys, the Tsarukyan alliance [which is led by opposition Prosperous Armenia Party Chairman, and businessman MP, Gagik Tsarukyan,] is the leader.

“[President and RPA Chairman] Serzh Sargsyan is already going to make an arrangement with Tsarukyan around possible post-election cooperation regarding proportionality and relations, receiving a guarantee that there will not be any surprise.

“Tsarukyan has not displayed great ambitions so far, and his [recent] return [to politics] has not caused any problems so far for the halls of power and Serzh Sargsyan, personally,” wrote Zhamanak.”
