The Chinese authorities foiled smuggling of more than 3,000 turtles in the province of Guangdong in southern China, Xinhua reported. The total weight of the illegal live load was 86 kg. A batch of turtles was found at the customs of Huanggang, said an employee of the customs Van Shaoven.
The truck driver, who attempted to smuggle the turtles said, he was taking them to "someone else." The turtles are placed under quarantine. The investigation is underway.
