Quinquagesima was celebrated Sunday in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia.

Respective festivities were held in the districts of Yerevan, while the major festivity took place at Liberty Square, from where those in attendance staged a festive march.

Quinquagesima, which is the Sunday next before Lent, is the remembrance of mankind’s happiness which Adam and Eve enjoyed in paradise.

According to Armenian folk tradition, the festive Quinquagesima tables had to be abundant.

In addition, freedom was granted to the desires and manifestations of the individual.
