The grand opening of a unique exhibition entitled ''Armenian book in Ukraine: 400-year history'' was held in Kiev on Wednesday.

Unique documents illustrating the friendly ties of the Armenian and Ukrainian peoples were for the first time displayed to a wide public.

As expected, the medieval Gospel manuscripts of the 14th, 15th and 17th centuries sparked special interest. According to AnalitikaUA.net, the guests confirmed that such a large-scale exhibition is a vivid proof of the significant contribution of the Armenians to the Ukrainian culture, as well as expression of respect by the Ukrainian people to the unique medieval handwritten and press heritage of Ukrainian Armenians preserved by the state.

Among the exhibits are also 19-20th century publications about Armenia and books on the history of Armenian music.
