YEREVAN. – Armenia should become a full member in the European Union (EU), said Anzhela Khachatryan, Vice-Chairperson of and MP candidate from the country’s opposition Free Democrats Party, at a press conference on Friday.

In her words, Armenia’s progress should be viewed solely in the context of deepening relations with developed Western countries.

“Against the backdrop of the conversations about the opportunities for ensuring [Armenia’s] security as part of the [Russia-led] Eurasian Economic Union, we saw how the deputy PM of Russia expressed during the days in [early] April [2016, when Azerbaijan had unleashed a large-scale military aggression against Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh)], claiming that Moscow will sell weapons to Azerbaijan, from now on as well,” noted Khachatryan. “We [i.e. Armenia] have integrated into a union which not only doesn’t give benefit, but, also, our political and economic interests are violated, [and] our security issue isn’t resolved there.”
