The assembly, which Mehdi Eker—chief adviser to the vice-chairman of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) of Turkey—was to have in the Swedish capital city of Stockholm with the local Turkish community, has been canceled.

Eker informed that the owner of the hall where this meeting was to take place on Sunday canceled this event without explanation, reported Birgün daily of Turkey.

He noted that the main objective of this gathering was to conduct the “yes” campaign for the upcoming constitutional referendum in Turkey.

Earlier, German and Dutch officials also canceled Turkish ministers’ respective campaign meetings in their countries, and this has caused tension in their relations with Turkey.
