YEREVAN. – Several new medical drugs were synthesized in Armenia, and the state should help manufacture them, said Vazgen Safaryan, Chairman of the United Progressive Communist Party of Armenia, at a press conference on Wednesday.

To note, Safaryan is second on the Communist Party of Armenia’s proportional representation list for the forthcoming parliamentary election in the country.

He noted that the Institute of Fine Organic Chemistry of Armenia has synthesized about a dozen new medical drugs, and they solely need to undergo clinical tests. The institute, however, does not have the respective funding.

“As a result, they export them to Belarus, where they just fill in the capsules and sell dozens of times more expensive,” noted Safaryan.

He added that the conclusion to be drawn from this situation is that the Armenian state needs to assist pharmacists in creating new jobs.
