YEREVAN. - President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan on Friday met with the participants and persons in charge of Young Scientists Support Program (YSSP).

The young scientists briefed the President on the actions carried out within the framework of the program for 2015-2016 reporting period and the cooperation programs, drawing parallels with previous years.

The YSSP report included a number of key directions, among which were provision of financial support to young scientists for organizing international scientific business trips, conferences, symposia and seminars, provision of scientific grants, provision of funding for publishing the books authored by young scientists, provision of funding for acquiring scientific equipment and/or materials, etc.

After listening to the report, President Sargsyan asked the scientists about the usefulness and the efficiency of the provided support. The program participants thanked the President for consistently supporting and encouraging young scientists, stressing that engaging in science becomes more and more attractive for the youths, the significant growth of the participants in the announced competitions being indicative of this. 

Sargsyan stressed that the aim of the YSSP is to contribute to the progress of science and replenish the sphere with cadre potential, as well as support the creative development of the republic’s young scientists, giving them an opportunity to communicate with their foreign colleagues and get familiarized with the developments and innovations of the global science. The President also underscored the importance of the achievements, which can be useful in ensuring certain progress within the country.

At the end of the meeting, Serzh Sarsgyan handed certificates of appreciation to the YSSP participants.
