Moscow summoned Israeli Ambassador to Russia Gary Koren to inquire about airstrikes on Syrian troops near Palmyra, RIA Novost reported quoting Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov.
“Yes, we asked him about this,” Bogdanov told journalists.
The incident took place in March. According to the Syrian army, four Israeli Air Force jets violated its airspace and purportedly targeted Syrian units near Palmyra.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that Israeli aircraft struck several targets in Syria overnight. They did it to “prevent the smuggling of sophisticated weapons, military equipment and weapons of mass destruction from Syria to Hezbollah.”
