YEREVAN. – Not us or Karabakh or Azerbaijan, but international organizations have decided on the precepts for the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

First President of Armenia, and opposition Armenian National Congress Party Chairman Levon Ter-Petrosyan, stated the aforesaid on the air of Public Television of Armenia.

In his words, this matter is not between the Armenians and the Azerbaijanis, but it is a geopolitical issue.

“The Karabakh [conflict] settlement process is not an abstract platform, but a body vested with specific powers, and which is entrusted to handle this matter,” added Ter-Petrosyan. “It is the OSCE Minsk Group, which has received the UN’s blessing, too.”

As per the First President of Armenia, all proposals that were made have been these international organizations’ proposals to the Armenian and the Azerbaijani parties to this conflict.

According to Ter-Petrosyan, no one has any argument with respect to the precepts for resolving this conflict.

“Talks are conducted so that the parties make the solution as beneficial as possible for them,” he added.

And when asked whether Azerbaijan is ready for the settlement of this conflict, the First President of Armenia responded: “If Azerbaijan were not ready for mutual concessions, it would not have participated in the activities of the Minsk Group; the international platform decides this. Azerbaijan will not define Karabakh’s status; the Minsk Group will define the status.”
